Vintage Bath

The original vintage bathroom featured a pure white inviting bath tub with an overhead shower. The porcelain enameled tub had a four and half inch roll rim and nickel plated fittings. The nickel plated combination shower and needle bath featured a thermometer and a rubber shower curtain. Pedestal sinks were of vitreous china with large basins. Popular vintage bathrooms were enameled on all exposed surfaces and built into walls and floors, so that they were strictly clean and sanitary, with practically no places where dust, dirt and moisture could collect. The upper class house was built with at least one bathroom to every two bedrooms, most often with a freestanding bathtub and shower combination. Very often, storerooms, clothes closets, or even a corner off an extremely large bedroom was utilized to add a new bathroom; this quick addition of an additional bathroom was gained at very little cost.
