American Revolution iPad App

The American Revolution Center, a non-profit organization working to build The Museum of the American Revolution in historic Philadelphia, developed an iPad app that allows users to explore highlights from the Center’s collection. Titled American Revolution Interactive Timeline for iPad, the free app was designed specifically for iPad, and offers beautiful imagery, video, and information through an interactive timeline that showcases original artwork, weapons, clothing, manuscripts and rare books from the Center’s collection.

Image captions and video podcasts provide an overview of key milestones of the American Revolution as they relate to items in the Center’s collection. Scroll to 1766, for example, and select the Philadelphia Powder Horn. Zoom in to see the intricate engraving that shows Philadelphia’s waterfront on the eve of the American Revolution. Read a short description, and then click to watch a video of the Center’s curator describing the object and its historical importance. The free app is available through iTunes. It was developed for the Center by Bluecadet—an award-winning design studio based in Philadelphia. The interactive timeline can also be found on the Center’s website.
